I'm learning a lot from this first day on my own with Lucy! I never realized how many receiving blankets a little girl could poop on, and that I should make sure she is done before changing her! I'm still not sure what the best way to get poop stains out of her clothes. I will keep researching. Ryan and I are going to attempt a sponge bath tonight...

Today Lucy came home from the hospital! We went on our first shopping trip to Target and Wal-Mart. It was quite interesting!

Lucy has been pretty stubborn today. She eats when she wants, and there's no way but her way. Great Grandma Hubler, Grandpa Hubler, Grandma Lee, and Aunt Diana came to visit. My mother has been staying with me since Monday, May 31. She has been running me all around Ft. Smith in between Lucy's feedings. I am so grateful to have her with me this week! She has been a great support! Lucy's weight is back up to 5lbs 9.7 oz.

Ryan and I began the day early. We washed the sheets and set up an airbed for any visitors that needed to stay at our apartment. No one stayed...so we will have clean sheets when we get home :). We found out on Monday that Lucy was in a transverse breech position. Dr. Wood said we would have to have a C-section to get her out. I had to fast from midnight until after the surgery, and was not very happy about that. We were at the hospital at 10am on Thursday morning to do paper work and to get prepped for the C-section. We went in to the O.R. around 1pm. Lucy Davina Lee was born on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 1:32pm. She weighed 5 lbs and 13 ounces. She is 19.5 inches long. Ryan was allowed to carry Lucy to the NICU. After a few hours in the NICU, (a precaution taken by the hospital with all C-section babies) Lucy was brought to our room to have visitors. She never seemed interested in eating, and when she did, she would immediately spit it back up. On Friday night at 11pm, the nurse took Lucy to get her vitals taken and to give us some rest. About 1am, a couple of nurses came to tell us that because of the spitting up and not holding down any food, they would keep her in the NICU to monitor her. The neonatal specialist told us the next morning that she had pneumonia, and that she hadn't passed the entire meconium plug. They gave her an enema and then not sure how long after...she passed it! Ryan said it was huge! She was on an IV until noon on Monday. She gets antibiotics by IV twice a day for 10 days. Today was day 4. We should be able to take her home on Tuesday. Her weight dropped down to at least 5lbs 3 oz. She is back up to 5 lbs 9oz.
